Facade coating as an effective energy-saving aid
The energy transition in Germany is in full swing. According to the German Energy Agency (dena), there are around 21 million buildings in Germany, which together account for 35 percent of total final energy consumption.
The savings potential in this sector is enormous and ways and means are needed to increase the energy efficiency of buildings. Thanks to its special mode of action, the ThermoProtect facade coating from SICC Coatings GmbH helps to reduce energy consumption in this area.
Reducing costs and protecting the climate
The increasingly long periods of heat in summer lead to a significant increase in the indoor temperature of buildings. Good insulation is essential here to keep temperatures bearable for residents. Air conditioning systems are not a climate-friendly solution and would also have a negative impact on energy and cost efficiency. In the cold season, it is important that heat from inside the building is not released to the outside too quickly in order to avoid high heating costs and keep energy consumption as low as possible. With its ready-to-use ThermoProtect façade coating, the Berlin-based company SICC Coatings offers a solution to keep energy costs low in summer and winter and to improve the general energy balance of a building.
Effective at any time of year
The product is based on reflective membrane technology and works purely physically. The dispersion is enriched with microscopically small glass ceramic beads and activators that work in conjunction with monolithic masonry. The membrane prevents precipitation or condensation from penetrating and the capillary effect also dehumidifies the masonry. A dry façade insulates significantly better, which means that less transmission heat is lost and the solar input from the low sun is absorbed more effectively in winter. In summer, ThermoProtect prevents the exterior walls from heating up too much thanks to short-wave sunlight reflection and directed evaporation processes. In tests carried out in Abu Dhabi in cooperation with the logistics company AD Ports Group, the façade coating was also able to impress in an extremely hot climate zone.
Effective protection against algae and moss
Reduced heat loss in winter and passive cooling performance in summer demonstrably improve the energy balance of the coated building and thus reduce costs. However, the effect is not limited to an optimized energy balance. The dry exterior walls prevent algae and moss infestation and thus prevent the need for frequent renovation.
The ready-to-use façade coating is suitable for almost all substrates and also resists aggressive environmental influences, is weather-resistant, low-emission and solvent-free.
